Carving Connections in Arnside & Silverdale National Landscape
In Arnside & Silverdale National Landscape the Coppice Co-op delivered a project in collaboration with Stations of Welcome. A South Asian Muslim women’s group from Accrington Station visited the National Landscape for a series of workshops where they co-designed and created two benches. One bench is now located in a nature reserve in the National Landscape, and the other at the eco-station where the group usually volunteers. The project is building on previous visits in which the group learned the basics of woodcraft, and they have now elevated their skills to create an artistic response to the National Landscape through the medium of wood carving.
The Coppice Co-op are a co-operative coppicing and wood-crafting business, and they are working with the support of Mainspring Arts to develop the project. Stations of Welcome is the station adopter group for Accrington Eco-Station, supported by Community Rail Lancashire.
