Matthew Rosier - Chilterns - Artist

People in hi-viz and hard hats dance in unison. They are surrounded by what look like pillars of chalk.

Matthew Rosier - Chilterns - Artist

Matthew Rosier is an artist who creates public artworks with communities across the UK. His practice involves the public in both the creation process and finished work, creating immersive installations that connect people with their shared heritage, landscapes and each other. For Nature Calling, Matthew will be working with the communities of Luton to explore the Chiltern landscape and its neolithic histories.

We are looking down at a crowd, lit with purple. A white chalk image hovers above them forming a circle, partially dotted, with a smaller round blob in the middle.

Artist Statement

Luton Henge, will be a new community monument made from the Chilterns landscape, inspired by its ancient sites and stories. It’ll serve as a platform for community events and performances, celebrating the culture of Luton today. For me this project is an opportunity to create new relationships between the unique landscape of the Chilterns, those who were first drawn to it thousands of years before, and those who call it home today.

Matthew Rosier will be working with producers Revoluton Arts.
