David Blandy & Daniel Locke have been collaborating on multiple projects for the past decade, alongside their own solo art practices. Making art around environmental science, collaborating with communities and directly addressing climate change, their work includes the graphic novel, Out of Nothing, published by Nobrow; the role-play games Lone Eons and The World After.
David Blandy has exhibited & performed at venues nationally and worldwide, including Tate Modern, London; Serpentine Gallery, London; Towner Gallery, Eastbourne; 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, Japan; Art Tower Mito, Tokyo, Japan; Kiasma Contemporary Art Museum, Helsinki, Finland & PS1 MOMA, New York, USA.
Daniel Locke’s graphic novel Two Heads, was published by Bloomsbury in the UK & Scribner in the USA. He has collaborated with a wide range of researchers and artists on a diverse series of projects, including Scribner, Bloomsbury, Nobrow, The Nib, Arts Council England, The Wellcome Trust, NHS, and The National Trust. Since 2014 Daniel Locke has been closely associated with the ecology group Rewilding Sussex.
Through their playful approach of gaming, graphic novels and storytelling Blandy & Locke will spend time with the community of New Addington, Croydon to develop their ideas and embed local experience into the physical game trails they will be creating for all audiences. Expect adventure and new graphic narratives about how urban communities can access the Surrey Hills through connection to nature.
