Ayesha Chouglay - Lincolnshire Wolds - Writer

Ayesha is a writer and multimedia artist from the global majority, using her work to open up safe spaces for conversation.

She explores her perception of the world through the lens of her disabilities - she identifies as deaf.

Ayesha is new to nature writing and her relationship with the Lincolnshire Wolds is from an unexplored family connection and wanting to question what it means to belong in a place you don’t come from. Ayesha will be working with a variety of local groups including disability groups, learning about navigating the landscapes through people who experience a number of barriers.

Artist Statement

I have a personal connection to Lincolnshire through my mother’s side of the family; they lived there for at least 500 years, farming sheep. Having never visited, I feel a need to delve into this relationship, and will interweave the landscape itself with my personal viewpoint, creating a piece of writing with a poetic nature.
